Description: POSITION SUMMARY

The Human Resources / Payroll Coordinator provides excellent customer service to associates in the areas of HR policy, benefit, and payroll questions.  The HR / Payroll Coordinator also provide regular maintenance and oversight to HRIS (Workday), timekeeping system (Kronos), and the general payroll process (the actual payroll processing occurs at corporate).  This individual will partner with the HR team, supervisors, and other departments to complete documentation, reporting, and compliance standards in accordance with company mission and goals.  The HR/Payroll Coordinator will also support various employee engagement initiatives as well as promote company values.

 

POSITION DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

 

HRIS and Payroll System:  Has working knowledge of HRIS and payroll system to include:

  • System administration of company timekeeping system (Kronos)
  • Perform necessary scheduled maintenance on the time clocks.
  • Trains new associates and supervisors how to use the time keeping system. 
  • Assists in maintaining current and accurate employee payroll information on the HRIS system.
  • Assists in keeping accurate payroll deductions assuring proper withholding for income tax purposes.
  • Process payroll transactions for promotions, transfers, new hires, wage adjustments, garnishments, terminations, and benefit deductions.

Customer Service:

  • Has working knowledge of personnel policies and procedures, benefit program and employment laws and regulations. 
  • Responds to customer inquiries regarding policies, procedures, benefits or has knowledge of who to refer to within department.
  • Distribute information to employees (i.e. – insurance cards and booklets).

Other HR Coordinator Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to production recruiting activities – including interviewing, candidate screening and background verification processing.
  • Assist with new hire onboarding and orientation activities
  • Create standard reports for the organization and respond to requests for information
  • Review and process requests for information for unemployment claims
  • Coordinate a variety of employee relations events
  • Provide support on a variety of HR and company activities (surveys, meetings, charitable events, etc.)
  • Other duties may be assigned
  • Apply Lean principles in own work performance and drive Lean applications in company operations.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of an associate’s degree in a related field and 3-5 years HR/Payroll experience. Will consider candidates with a bachelor’s degree in an HR-related discipline with less experience.  Prior payroll experience required.

  • Prior experience with Kronos and Workday preferred

  • Excellent Computer Skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of current employment practices, regulations, and benefits is preferred

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES                                             

This position has no supervisory responsibility. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Mostly an office environment with occasional visits to the manufacturing floor.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

 

Travel requirements are infrequent.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend and move about the facility.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
