2020 Enterprising Leadership Awards Announced!
The WI SHRM Enterprising Leadership Grant, established in 2008, awards a chapter or chapters a grant to support a “partnership” with another WI-based organization that promotes communication and collaboration between HR and other business professionals/organizations across the state.  It is intended to fund initiatives that are innovative and strives to bring business professionals together toward a common cause, led by the HR community.

Criteria include having a partnership with an organization outside of SHRM that has goals/objectives that help advance the HR profession and a joint planned activity or initiative with that organization that demonstrates Enterprising HR Leadership Communication, Collaboration and/or Education of/between business professionals.

The WI State Council SHRM appreciates the work our Chapters are doing across the state to partner with local organizations with the ultimate goal of creating Better Workplaces Better World.  The committee based their decision on how well the initiatives aligned with SHRM’s Vision of embracing business solutions like building more-inclusive workplace cultures, closing the skills gap and continuing to work to aid companies in hiring people often overlooked in the job market.

WI SHRM is pleased to announce the winners of the 2020 Enterprising Leadership Award, the La Crosse Chapter of SHRM (LASHRM) and St. Croix Valley Employers Association.

The La Crosse Chapter of SHRM will receive $2,000 to support their partnership with Workforce Connections, Inc. (WCI) for the 2020 Workforce Forum to Celebrate September as Workforce Development Month.  The forum was entitled Breaking Barriers and focused on four barriers to employment.  Together, they hosted four unique speakers who could train on the chosen issues related to barriers to employment.  Workforce Connections, Inc. is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that has provided employment and training services in Western Wisconsin since 1983.  WCI’s mission is to “connect people work and training while advancing self-sufficiency.”

The St. Croix Valley Employers Association (SCVEA) will also receive $2,000 to support their partnership with WITC on a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Conference.  The virtual conference offers educators, HR professionals, businesses and students the opportunity to engage and learn in a flexible format.  The conference includes keynote presentations from Deborah Biddle, The People Company: “Why Diversity Matters and Unconscious Bias” and “Inclusive on Purpose” and additional pre-recorded sessions.  The objective is to design an educational opportunity to give participants awareness and tools to provide a workplace that is diverse, inclusive and equal.

Congratulations to both the La Crosse Chapter of SHRM and the St. Croix Valley Employers Association on their awards!
