Description: Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) is searching for a proven leader to advise and drive our benefits team and overall benefits program. As we expand our services and facilities, this individual’s experience and knowledge will be essential in guiding MCHS in retaining quality staff, as well as attracting highly desired new candidates.
 
Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) oversees Marshfield Clinic and other subsidiaries, including Security Health Plan of Wisconsin, Inc., Marshfield Clinic Information Services, Flambeau Hospital in Park Falls and Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. Marshfield Clinic, with more than 60 locations in Wisconsin, serves patients through accessible, high quality health care, research and education; with more than 750 physician specialists in over 80 specialties and subspecialties and more than 6,800 employees.
 
Reporting to the Chief HR Officer as a member of the HR Leadership Team, the Director of Benefits is responsible for designing, implementing, communicating, and administrating MCHS’s health and welfare benefits programs. This individual will ensure that programs comply with all current local, state and federal regulations. He/She will utilize a continuous improvement approach for evaluation of plan/program design and administrative processes.

The qualified candidate will have a:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, communication or related field; Bachelor’s degree in human resources preferred
  • A minimum 5-7 years of experience working with employer-sponsored benefit plans
  • Experience in benefit plan design and negotiations with plan vendors and consultants
  • Experience with WI state laws and federal laws governing employer benefit plans
  • Experience in the design, development and execution of various types benefit plans
  • Experience motivating, coaching and supervising staff
 
Preferred/Optional Experience:
  • 7-10 years of management/leadership with a large (5,000+ employees) organization
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel program, spreadsheets and other Microsoft software
  • Experience with Workday HRIS or other major HRIS platform (People Soft, etc.)
 
Preferred/Optional Certification:
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP)
  • PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP
