Human Resources and Office Assistant
RESCO Electronics (www.rescoelectronics.com) has been recognized as one of The Baltimore Sun’s Top Workplaces in 2019, 2020 and again in 2021! We are a manufacturer of cable and electromechanical assemblies and a value-added reseller of bar code equipment to the medical, defense, and industrial equipment industries. We are seeking a Human Resources/Office Assistant to join our Human Resources Team. This is a full time position working in our McFarland, Wisconsin office on Madison’s southeast side.

Primary Responsibility:

Assists the Senior Manager of Human Resources and General Manager in the day-to-day operations of the office and HR function. Provides support in several areas of HR and administrative office support and is knowledgeable in compiling, maintaining, and handling confidential employment/personnel records.The hours for the position are generally Monday through Thursday from 8am - 5:30pm and Fridays from 8am - 12pm.

Specific Duties:

HR Onboarding duties – Processes employment applications, performs background checks, sets up pre-employment drug testing, prepares offer letters, and performs recruitment activities in conjunction with the hiring process.

Prepares, schedules, and conducts, new hire orientations and provides employment instruction.

Oversees and records employee information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax information, attendance, and other employment data etc., on a regular basis.

Prepares and maintains personnel files in accordance with applicable laws.

Provides information to payroll and other company executives as requested or required.

Assists with recruitment process by posting job openings, screening resumes and applicants, and coordinating interviews

Offboarding duties –Escalates all Employee Relations issues to the Senior Manager of Human Resources. Handles employee termination checkout process and notifies appropriate departments, benefit vendors, or other necessary entities as required. Uploads documents to Paycom HRIS.

Benefits Administration – Performs duties by tracking eligibility for participation in benefit plans including medical, life, disability, 401(k), COBRA, etc.; processes enrollments and changes; reviews and reconciles contributions and billings monthly.

Prepares reports and/or correspondence as needed.

Submits reports of injury to the Senior Manager of Human Resources.

Responds to Government requests such as unemployment inquiries and completes necessary forms for submission in additional to other reporting requirements in conjunction with the Senior Manager of Human Resources.

Payroll – Will act as additional support to the payroll department by utilizing the Paycom system. Help to review timesheets and prepare paid time off or payroll reports as requested.

Office Administration - Serves as point of contact for all office related duties including but not limited to the following:

  • Check and distribute mail daily.
  • Greet visitors.
  • Monitor and order office supplies.
  • Serve as liaison between service providers for cleaning, landscaping, plumbing, IT, etc.
  • Assist with simple computer/IT issues.
  • Request quotes for various projects/upcoming needs.
  • Perform daily scanning of documents.
  • Post company information on bulletin boards.
  • Help plan company events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualified applicants will have the following preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge in the field of Human Resources and Benefits Administration with 1 -2 years’ experience or Bachelor's degree from college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; friendly, personable, approachable, and ability to easily interact with a diverse group of people.
  • Strong computer skills including proficient knowledge of Microsoft Suite products. Paycom experience is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to perform research and consolidate information into an understandable format.
  • Multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work independently with general supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning all employee information.
  • Passion for learning and keeping up to date with changing HR laws.
  • Basic knowledge of HR laws on both Federal and State level.
