Department of Workforce Development Takes Additional Steps to Connect UI Claimants with Job Opportunities
As you may have heard or read, the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) is taking additional steps this fall to align our Unemployment Insurance (UI) more closely with our Job Center of Wisconsin (JCW) system. Specifically, on October 13 we implemented changes to ensure new UI claimants who by law must register for work do so through Wisconsin Job Service through JobCenterofWisconsin.com.
While we believe this one-time registration requirement will pay dividends for claimants by directly linking them to a wealth of employment resources, we also believe this change will provide significant advantages to employers.
Affected claimants will need to create a Job Match profile and upload or create a resume as part of registration. Employers who use JobCenterofWisconsin.com resources will see an increase in the number of registrants whose information can be reviewed.
More registered job seekers mean an expanded pool of potential candidates who possess a variety of employment backgrounds and skills, and who are actively searching for new employment. If you donít utilize the candidate search options on JobCenterofWisconsin.com, this is an excellent time to start.
At DWD, we know that the time spent registering with JobCenterofWisconsin.com will open claimants up to an array of services offered online and through one of our 26 comprehensive Job Center of Wisconsin locations across thte state. This includes tens of thousands of job postings for claimants to choose from. This will expedite claimantsí job search, improve their chances of success and, we believe, speed their return to work with great employers like you.
We encourage you and all other Wisconsin employers to post job orders on JobCenterofWisconsin.com and sign up with us to review the expanding slate of registered job seekers, including UI claimants.
Please donít hesitate to stop in one of our Job Center of Wisconsin centers, visit JobCenterofWisconsin.com, or call our toll free line at 1-888-258-9966 for additional information.
We appreciate and stand ready to support your efforts to find qualified job seekers to meet your recruitment needs.
