POSITION SUMMARY:

This position reports directly fo the Firm's Managing Partner and is responsible for overall HR strategy and implementation. The Director's duties include, but are not limited to the following: attorney and staff hiring and development, organizational design, benefit design and administration, staff performance reviews and compensation and employee records.
The Director of Human Resources will also work closely with the Chief Operating Officer (COO), other Administrative Directors, Practice Group Leaders, attorneys and staff. The position supervises the Director of Attorney Recruitment/Retention, Human Resources Manager, Benefits Analyst, HR Coordinator and Legal Executive Assistants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversees staff recruitment and development

Oversees and coordinates with Director of Attorney Recruitment/Retention

Provides strategic direction related to the HR function

Manages employee relations issues; provides advice and counsel to attorneys, supervisors and staff; conducts discipline and termination meetings; ensures HR decisions, activities and practices align with and stregnthen G&K culture

Oversees employee compensation/benefits design and implementation

Develops and interprets Firm's HR policies, programs and practices

Develops and manages HR budget

Through the Firm's HR Manager, oversees legal executive assistants

Special/Strategic projects as needed
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
-
Excellent communication skills and presence. Proven ability to quickly gain the trust and confidence of others and communicate effectively with attorneys and staff. Proven ability to handle confidential and/or sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Communications, Business or related field and a minimum of 10 years of HR experience, with at lesast 5 years in a management capacitiy. Master's degree in Human Resources preferred. CEBS, PHR, or SPHR certificate helpful but not required

Prior experience in a law firm or other professional services firm preferred

Working knowledge of laws and regulations governing recruiting, employemnt and benefits

Working knowledge of HRIS systems and Microsoft Office software

Prior in-depth knowledge of performance management practices desireable
