Certification December 2016 Update
SHRM Certification Accreditation
SHRM is proud to announce that the SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP exams have been accredited by The Buros Center for Testing, a pronouncement that the HR credentials meet the highest standards in testing.

Here is a link to SHRM’s official news announcement; please share with your work colleagues and HR networks.

The Buros Center is the premier test review center located at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln; it accredited SHRM Certification less than two years after the credentials were launched.

We celebrate this milestone with more than 96,000 SHRM--certified professionals, the fastest-growing HR certification community. The SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP are the most widely-taken HR exams in the world.

Certification Scholarship
Last June, more than 400 HR professionals applied for a certification or academic scholarship and earlier this month the SHRM Foundation awarded 152 scholarships, including the WISHRM Certification scholarship.  The winner of this scholarship was Karla Dickson.

Karla Dickson is an HR Generalist / Benefits Specialist at Mega CO-OP in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She is working towards her SHRM-SCP. She is the VP of Programming and President-Elect for the Chippewa Valley SHRM. Karla developed a Leadership Series of programs for the chapter where HR professionals were encouraged to bring a leader/manager from their organization with them to attend each event. This helped foster stronger relationships between the two, and enabled the HR professional to become a more effective strategic business partner. The series resulted in a 25% increase in attendance and the chapter plans to submit this innovative program for a SHRM Pinnacle Award. As Karla says “as President-elect for my local SHRM chapter, I feel it is important to know and be familiar with the SHRM certification process. By taking the exam, I will be a resource for other members of our chapter.”

It was wonderful serving as the WISHRM Certification Director for the past 3 years.  Certification certainly had tremendous challenges and growth with the addition of the SHRM Certification and changes to both SHRM and HRCI requirements for both Certification and Recertification.  I know my successor, Sheree Yates, will be a great resource to you in the upcoming years.  It was wonderful getting to know all of you.
