About WISHRM
The Wisconsin Council represents human resource professionals
in the State of Wisconsin and is supported through the national
Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), a non-profit professional
association founded in 1948. The State Council provides a communication
link between the chapters and national, and is a forum for the
exchange of ideas and information concerning chapter administration
and the HR profession.
SHRM is divided into five regions across the country. The Wisconsin
Council SHRM is part of North Central Region. The North Central Region
is made up of the following states: Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota,

How to Affiliate Your Human Resource
Organization with SHRM:
Professional human resource organizations affiliate
to SHRM by fulfilling the following requirements:
- Chapter President must be national SHRM member.
- Chapters must have at least 25 members and 100% of chapter
members must be national SHRM members.
- Chapter bylaws must not conflict with the basic principles
of SHRM or its bylaws.
Process
The chapter affiliation procedure is quite simple. A
human resource organization interested in affiliating with
SHRM submits to the appropriate state council director:
- A written petition requesting a chapter charter.
- A copy of the chapter’s bylaws.
- A roster of the chapter’s current membership
Your state council director will forward the above items to SHRM
for final review and approval. Each petition is considered
on an individual basis.
