Volunteer Days

2011 One Day to Make a Difference Recap
For the second year in a row the WI SHRM Council encouraged our local chapters to organize a day and find time to give back to a local service agency in their community. This year they sure exceeded our expectations, as we had over 300 HR volunteers from 15 different HR chapters give time to "Make a Difference." An update of the list of local activities and how each of the volunteers made a difference in their community can be found at: /Volunteer/VolunteerDays/2011VolunteerDaysChapterEvents.aspx
We were also honored to have the work of our WI SHRM Chapters recognized last year by SHRM, please read the highlights below:

This program continues to highlight the innovation and involvement of SHRM Chapters and HR professionals across the state, creating opportunities for cooperation and collaboration within our chapters and the local community to be of service. We are very thankful to all of the volunteers for making that difference!

The Council will undertake a program to leverage greater innovation and involvement of SHRM Chapters and HR professionals across the state, creating opportunities for cooperation and collaboration within our chapters and the local community to be of service.
In the coming weeks, the State Council will communicate extensively with local chapters to promote and coordinate the 2011 Volunteer Days. This project asks each local SHRM Chapter to identify and partner with a local service agency to provide service to their local community on one weekend in June 2011.
Background:
WISHRM wanted to organize an effort across the state whereby HR professionals could work together to give back to their communities.
Each Chapter is asked to choose a non-profit(s) in their community and then coordinate an event where members could give of their time and resources to make an impact locally.
Chapter Tasks:
- Rally the troops and help organize the day
- Determine what non-profit(s) to work with in their community
- Communicate back to WISHRM on their event details
- Track volunteers and their accomplishments and take pictures that day and share them with WISHRM
