The WI State SHRM Conference was a great place to connect with those attendees who were not yet affiliated with local chapters. For the second year in a row the WI SHRM State Council hosted a booth where volunteers from our chapters had an opportunity to speak to conference attendees about the benefits of local chapter membership.

 

Every SHRM chapter in the state provided information on their upcoming programming, the benefits of affiliating with a local Chapter, and registration information for the volunteers to pass along to interested attendees at the conference. The goal was to encourage attendees who were not already members of a local SHRM chapter to join one. This year we had close to 40 interested prospects to follow up with after the event.

 

This year we also hosted a special Networking Event for those who were non-local chapters so they could get to know each other and local chapter leaders. In this casual setting attendees were able to hear more about how local chapter membership can provide professional development opportunities and help them increase their networks. A couple of lucky attendees won some great door prizes sponsored by HNI and Career Momentum!

 

A big THANK YOU to the members of the local SHRM Chapters and the WI SHRM State Council who volunteered their time to staff the booth and attend the Networking Event.

 

Due to these efforts and good follow up from our chapters, 7 people joined a local Chapter between October 6th and November 15th. Chapter leaders will continue to follow up with the rest who have not yet made a commitment to join a local chapter. Congratulations to those who have joined-you will soon be reaping the rewards of affiliating and creating a new professional network for yourself! Congratulations to the local Chapters as well, as your hard work and efforts to increase your membership are being realized!
