Secretary
The Secretary is responsible for assisting the State Director and other Council members with various special projects and sits on the Nominations Committee and the executive team for the Council.

Responsibilities:
- Attend all State Council meetings and actively participate in Council matters.
- Prepare draft agendas for Director review and prepare reports associated with Council meetings and activities.
- Review and provide approval of prepared minutes of Council meetings.
- Approve Council meeting attendance records with Administrative Management Company.
- Update State Council position descriptions as needed.
- Prepare and submit the State Council Achievement Plan (SCAP) with assistance from the State Director.
- Assist State Director with Pinnacle Award submission as needed.
- Maintain bylaws of Council and draft updates as necessary for Council voting.
- Recognize new Council members and exiting Council members, including acknowledgements to their employers for allowing members to volunteer.
- Facilitates renewal of Administrative Management Company contract with Treasurer and State Director.
- Assist other Council members on various special projects and council communication for events, conferences, or activities.
- Ensure that the "affiliate of" SHRM logo is on all printed materials, products and on the website.
- Annually request HR Professionals Day proclamation and assist with press releases to various media around the State.
- Coordinate yearly communication plan including state and national e-blasts for the council and regular website content updates written by council members are posted.
- Ensure that website content is up-to-date.
- Assist Communications Director with website and public relations matters as requested.
- Coordinate council volunteer appreciation event at State Conference.
- Perform other duties as assigned by State Director.
Requirements:
National SHRM membership in good standing required. HRCI certification preferred.
Term:
Serves a one-year term beginning the first day of January and ending the last day of December. May be re-elected for two additional terms for a total of three years.
