Membership Director

OVERVIEW
The Membership Director is responsible for providing leadership to membership activities in chapters, particularly assuring that chapter membership directors have access to resources necessary to recruit at-large SHRM members to chapters, local chapter members only to SHRM, and non-affiliated HR professionals to both organizations.
Membership Update
Thank you to all of the WI SHRM State Conference attendees who took the time to stop by the State Council Booth at the 2011 conference in Madison. It was great to meet so many members, many who are affiliated and active with their local SHRM Chapters, as well as the SHRM members from around the state who have not yet joined a local chapter.
To encourage membership in local chapters, non-local chapter members who visited the booth were entered to win a free local chapter membership. Congratulations to the lucky winner, Sue Neumann from North Central Health Care in Wausau who will be joining Central WI SHRM Chapter!
In addition, a drawing for a free 2012 WI SHRM State Conference registration was held for any of the booth visitors who joined a local chapter between October 12th and November 18th. Congratulations to Debra Martinez from Southwest Family Care Alliance in Lone Rock who joined the Greater Madison Area SHRM Chapter and was the winner of the free 2012 State Conference registration!
Members have expressed that they have many benefits from their affiliation with their local SHRM chapters. With local chapters, you have access to resources right in your own back yard. Most of the chapters in Wisconsin hold monthly program meetings with a speaker and they have a variety of networking opportunities for you. If you haven’t already done so, I would like to encourage each of you to attend one of your local chapter meetings, just to see what it is all about.
One of the things we hear from local chapter members is the biggest benefit is the ability to use other members as sounding boards for a particular problem or challenge. HR can sometimes be a very lonely profession, but with a network of support such as a local chapter brings, you can gain help and assistance from folks who may have faced a similar situation.
There are 19 local chapters in Wisconsin. You can find the one nearest you by visiting our Wisconsin State Council Web site at:
Consider making local chapter membership one of your New Year’s resolutions!
Happy New Year!
