Domestic partners added to Wisconsin FMLA (WFMLA)
The new budget bill, signed into law by Governor Doyle (effective June 30, 2009), expands the state FMLA to add domestic partners for an employee’s FMLA use for a serious health condition and also includes care of the parent of a domestic partner. Wisconsin employers covered by the Wisconsin Family and Medical Leave Act (WFMLA) should modify their policies to reflect the change and are required to post the new requirements.
